Earth Day 2025
Earth Day is Green Team's biggest event each year. Last year, we organized several events to promote sustainable awareness in our community. Some events we organized include the creation of a parade float, a waste sorting game, a Green Team scavenger hunt, and reading the winning entries from our Elementary School Coloring COntest from earlier in the year.
Homecoming Parade '24

This year, our Green Team planned to showcase our cow-themed bike float in the parade, but it broke down. We walked instead had a great time! We also sold delicious chili at the tailgate, connecting with the community and enjoying homecoming festivities.
Objective 1 Potluck & Student Spotlights

We recently hosted another potluck, highlighting our achievements, including our waste reduction efforts and the successful organization of lights-off days. It’s a great opportunity to reflect on our accomplishments and enjoy delicious food together. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this event memorable!
Climate Literacy Bill

Green Team has made a significant impact by advocating for the climate literacy bill. As a result, graduating members of the Green Team at DHS now have the to earn a special certificate. This achievement not only highlights their commitment to environmental education but also empowers them to continue making a difference in the world. We're proud of our Green Team members and their dedication to fostering a sustainable future.
Lights Off Campaign

Join us in celebrating our commitment to sustainability! We hosted our first Lights Off Day the Friday before Thanksgiving, and it was a great success. This year, we're excited to plan even more events to promote energy conservation and raise awareness about our environmental impact. Stay tuned for updates on our upcoming Lights Off Days and how you can participate!
Rising River Stewards Events

On February 13th, we enjoyed a fantastic event with little, making mind maps and discussing the wonders of snow. It was a delightful experience watching them express their creativity. We look forward to more fun and activities like this in the future!
Cafeteria Waste Objective

At DHS, we're committed to reducing our environmental impact. We've replaced single-use plastics in the cafeteria with plates, making it easier for students to enjoy their meals sustainably. After use, students can conveniently return the plates at the bus. Together, we can make a difference for planet!
